Our story

From one donkey cart to a circular-economy enterprise

In 2010 E.C., founder Henok Dongato, then working as a hotel guard, began collecting waste with a single donkey cart. Today, that determination has grown into a 91-employee enterprise with a truck fleet, industrial recycling machinery, and a network of 18 small-enterprise partners.

Municipal Waste Logistics

Reliable city-wide collection: 88 m³ of solid waste is managed daily from Hawassa city's HHs, hotels, and industries with a dedicated fleet on a six-day schedule.

Recycling PET and composting organic waste cut greenhouse-gas emissions that landfilling would otherwise release. By diverting waste every single day, Hawassa Wubet SWMRE helps Ethiopia move toward a low-carbon, zero-waste future.

Approx, 1,500 tCO₂e emissions avoided annually through integrated PET recycling, composting, and sustainable municipal waste management (estimated).
